With the 2013 vintage of Silverpoint Cellars Napa Valley Red Wine, we continue our pursuit of a signature proprietary blend of Napa Valley fruit from mountain and valley floor vineyards. Our valley fruit is entirely Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford (Ithaca Vineyard, Highway 29 at Whitehall Lane). Our mountain fruit, which includes our Bordeaux blending grapes, come from the Antinori Family Estate (Antica), 1600 feet above the Napa Valley. As with our Chardonnays, our goal is to create textured, layered and complex wines.
Our 2013 vintage combines 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 15% Petit Verdot and 15% Cabernet Franc.
Grapes for our Napa Valley Red Wine were carefully sorted, de-stemmed and pressed prior to open top fermentation. Malolactic fermentation was completed in French oak barrels (50% new). The wine was barrel aged for three years per varietal and then blended. The blend was then bottle aged for an additional seven months prior to its recent release. 150 total cases were produced.
Lush dark fruit with hints of milk chocolate and black cherry. The juicy, vibrant and lively texture lead to a smooth and seamless finish. Excellent potential for aging.
